A month to the start of the 2020/2021 Academic year, councillors of Bafut Municipality have adopted as a strategy to encourage and assist parents better prepare for the upcoming academic year
To better prepare all the students, the council has partnered with the Cameroon Baptist Convention, CBC, to ensure that those living with disabilities have inclusive Education.
Children who took part in the First school Leaving Certificate and came out in honours roll will be awarded scholarships to secondary school
The Member of Parliament of Bafut-Tubah and the council will drive this campaign to all the ends of the subdivision. The Mayor, Ngwakongoh Lawrence regrets that schools have been paralyzed for close to four years
"It's very painful to see that we as parents for over four years now, our children can neither read nor write because of the crisis within the Bafut Municipality" he highlighted
"We have decided that we will embark on a systematic campaign of back to school so that our children will be able to take over from us tomorrow"
Speaking at the mid-term evaluation of the Bafut council, Thursday August 20th, the council saluted the defense and security forces that has been able to secure council equipments from separatist fighters
A council truck, a council front head loader, tricycles have been recovered and are under repairs
The council in six months has engaged itself in the construction of two classrooms at GS Ntabuwe, completion of the Akossi Mini portable water supply, rehabilitation of the Municipal roads from Akonduo-river Mezam and Ntabuwe-Nsem roads
With the prevailing insecurity, the second Electrification phase of Nchoho Village has started.
The council has also carried out massive distribution of anti COVID-19 materials like buckets, soaps, face masks and the disinfection of public structuresin the subdivision, the distribution of Didactic materials to primary schools, installation of internal fix phone at the office, construction of the Alantah-Mulleh-river Mezam farm to Market roads
However, six projects are yet to commence including the supply of Health Equipment to Akossia integrated Health centre, support in equipment in favour of vulnerable populations, Equipping the teacher's office at GS Ntabuwe
98 million Francs has been consumed of the over 800 million budgeted for 2020
The council still regrets the fact Insecurity has hampered the functioning of some activities of the council like collection of Market tolls
The councillors were charged to carry the message of love and forgiveness as back to school draws near
