Mayor of Bamenda City council provides measures to combat COVID-19.



Following a communique released Wednesday, April 1st 2020, the Mayor to the Bamenda City Council Achobang Paul, has provided some measures to fight against coronavirus with traces in Cameroon.

“In view of the CORONA VIRUS threat worldwide, and considering the appearance of traces in Cameroon, the City Mayor of Bamenda here provides the following to be applied by citizens of Bamenda at public spaces”.

He has ordered the following.
- Washing  of hands around the markets and public places.
- Intensified cleaning of garbage around the City center, Markets and some streets.

The above will be implemented in four days consecutively.

*Thursday 2rd April 2020*

- There’s going to be intensified cleaning of garbage heaps around the main market, food market, Commercial Avenue, Savanna Street, Sonac street, City Chemist, Hospital Roundabout, T-Junction, Vertinary junction.
- Kiosk and temporal sheds along the above mentioned streets should be removed latest Thursday 2rd April 2020 before 6:00pm.

*Friday 3rd April 2020*

- Disinfecting the streets of Commercial Avenue, Savanna Street, Sonac street, City Chemist, Hospital Roundabout, T-Junction, Vertinary junction, Finance and Ayaba, Nkwen Market and customs and upstation
- The food market, main market, Nkwen market, stadium market shall be closed on Friday 3rd April 2020. All shops and business centers along that street shall all be locked.

*Saturday 4th April 2020*

Shops and streets opened.

Monday 6th April 2020
- All the mentioned markets shall be disinfected
- Consequently the shop owners are expected to be by their sheds for this exercise.


These are to be executed as per the said date.

This is to ensure that all markets and streets are being disinfected to fight against this pandemic.  It should be noted that this is not the Mayor’s first gesture to contain the spread of this disease in the City.
